Philippe Cota (Marketing Manager for Nseries at Nokia France & Benelux) was kind enough to add me to his select group of 7 influencers to promote the launch of the Nokia N95 in France.
This cool device has been available for about 2 weeks now on the French market, a bit longer in the UK and Scandinavia. First results : out of stock already. They should appear in operator bundles in the late summer.
Quick summary of the features:
* multiple radio bands: GRPS, GSM, 3G, HSDPA, Wifi
* 5MP camera for pix / video
* GPS
* large screen
* Symbian
What I like about it:
* keyboard
* very light (compared to ie. N80)
* standard connectors: mini USB for data, audio jack
* syncs with my mac (with the help of Novamedia.de)
* can be used as a modem by my mac (with the help of novamedia.de)
* built-in GPS
* great speaker quality
* built in radio
* new carousel design to browser through applications
What I don't like about it:
* I have a pre-series model, and even though I've reflashed it, I still loose voice calls every now and then. I can hear the other person and she can't hear me, or vice versa. Only solution : reboot
* in rare occasions, the phone reboots
* takes a very long time for the phone to lock the GPS satellites and give a position (several minutes)
* I'm not a fan of the double-slider
* still a bit fat. except the phone to get slimmer in time
* somehow I use the zoom in /out and volume up/down in the wrong order. Maybe it's just me.
And a reminder:
* pressing the green button (take call) will open up the LOG aplets
* pressing the # key will turn on the silent mode
* pressing the 0 key will launch the web browser
