Hum... the backchannels are all consistent at 4pm today. In 3h30 we shall know who the next president of France is. Latest polls show that one obvious candidate should get through (check twitter for instance, or your sms...) as have the 180 or so previous polls. What a waste and lack of realism.
Nevertheless, it's not about dividing the country in 2, nor celebrating like crazy on one side, while the other side mourns.
If I were on the winning side, I would have a humble and discreet party, because we all have to work together for the next 5 years. Do not indulge into St-Barthelemy crazyness...
On my side, I'll take off at 9:40pm tonight to Spain.
- a couple of days with our team in Madrid, preparing the final touches for a few surprises, hopefully on May 14th;
- 24 hours at the 3rd edition of Innovate Europe
- and then join a few tech entrepreneurs for a joyful retreat at Martin Varsavsky's place in Menorca
Back on Sunday.
Update: 2 thoughts I wanted to share earlier, and forgot to:
- it's absolutely great that the finalists are in their early 50s. More attuned to our generation, and more energetic. It should give a different stature to the presidential role
- France is showing a fantastic turnout to both elections. more than 80% on the 1st round, record high at noon today. Good, politics are back in normal citizen life. Good for democracy.
