As you all know, the race has started for the French Presidential election to be held in France 2007.
- On the extreme-left wing, the usual suspects such as Communists, Trotskyists, etc. will all have their candidate.
- On the left-wing side, the Socialist party is still trying to figure out whether they'll support the first French women presidential candidate with a chance (Ségolène Royal), or whether they'll fight each other to death among all pretenders, to have the last standing man campaign against the others.
- The Green party will have its candidate.
- On the center front, there's still a voice to be heard.
- On the right-wing side, there seems to be no discussion as to whether there is going to be any challenger to Nicolas Sarkozy, mayor of Neuilly (the rich suburb of Paris), President of the Conseil General 92 (the richest region of France), and Ministor of Interior (n°2 of the government).
- Of course, everyone is concerned about the potential come-back on the 2nd round of the xenophobiuc extreme-right wing candidate.
Video bloggers have started to cover the campaign, usually invited by the parties themselves, each using his different apprach to describe the campaign.
- Long time political journalist, known for his straight-talk, John-Paul Lepers started earlier this year to track each candidate. A great source for a behind the scenes coverage.
- last week-end, the Socialist Party held its summer University camp. Charles Liebert was there reporting among other bloggers.
- This week-end, the UMP right-wing party is holding its summer camp as well, and I can tell you they have no trouble knowing who their candidate is, as reported by Mry.
- On a funnier side, VinVin is also there, trying to learn how to talk with a local provincial accent.
