Folks, I am super honoured that the team at emailvision.com, and their CEO Nick Heys in particular, has allowed me to vlog them live this week as they prepare their IPO (Initial Public Offering). They got their final authorisation last Friday (3 days ago) from the stock exchange authorities at 19:30, and I started vlogging the team as early as 9am today.

You will see the backstage of the IPO, interviews with the Emailvision team, with third-party technical & financial teams, etc. almost as if you were here with me. The schedule is intense as we’ll start the road show around European cities tomorrow.

Emailvision is an email marketing software company with a strong technical focus. You can read all about them on their official web site, and grab the free investor pack here as well.

Nick has agreed to answer all your questions on camera every day this week, so make sure you leave comments and precise questions.

As far as I know, this is a first, and has never been done before (most probably TV crews have done it before, of course): this time, me, my laptop, my cameras and my backpack will be reporting almost live daily, as any vlogger could in the future

My new laptop skin

Antoin O'Lachlain has started a funny initiative: he will personalize any object for you, in particular your laptop with any visual creation. It's all available on www.aspoke.com.

The benefits ? my laptop now will advertize my brand, instead of the usual laptop maker brand; and the vinyl material will in addition better protect the laptop cover.

I took a few pictures of the process (ultra-easy), available on Flickr. The surface can be very smooth: I just kept all the stickers I had before.

By the way, do you have addresses of online companies that will ship in or to France the following: stickers, cards, pins, T-shirts, cups, hats, etc. I know about spreadshirt, jinx and Cafepress. Just looking for something closer to home.

What are the influencers ?

You've probably already seen this badges on French blogs. The influencers is an experiment by a bunch of folks, who are launching a series of online experiments here in France. The funny thing is that all blogger events are now announced with these grassroots banners created by the organisers of the events; even corporations such as vodeo.tv, causes such as AIDS protection or magazine launches are now advertised using the influencers.

Part of the blog culture I suppose. So what are you announcing these days  ?

Versac is covering French politics on video

At last the French political scene is waking up to the blogosphere, and in particular to videos. We already saw Nicolas Sarkozy podcasted by Loic Le Meur (with the help of vpod.tv of course), but it was too close to live TV in the format, the setting, the editing. The man being a political beast immediately saw the benefit of using bloggers, and invited them a couple of weeks later only to cover his wishes to the press. Mry covered that for instance (with vpod.tv again).

Valerio was probably the first to cover the left from the inside (I know Loic has talked to left-wing politicians) and asked the elephants (as they are known here) rather casual questions. I had the chande to talk to Valerio at the recent NETIZEN event, and he promised he would stop promoting the usual suspects and talk to the active militants and report live with them. Great.

On the other side of the political spectrum, Versac has started to use video (great, with vpod.tv again ) and is showing you the inside of the UDF center-right party’s rally this weekend : stuff you seldom see on TV. valerio also blogged it. With more journalists covering the 2007 presidential election (such as John-Paul Lepers), more bloggers covering the citizen scene, I expect the debate to become more useful, more democratic, AND FINALLY ABOUT ISSUES, NOT THE BEST SPINNED SMILE.

The upcoming Politique 2.0 event in a week’s time, shall be video podcasted live by DailyMotion for instance. I hope they’ll have enough bandwidth as the program looks really interesting and should attract lots of people. We’ll be there with our own cameras for backstage gossip

I don’t know about you, but I’m super excited that this is becoming possible. And just for the record, bloggers can use any technical provider they want, what counts is that content gets out there!

Laurent Edel launches his book on funky business ideas [French]

Laurent Edel is an interesting character. I met him a couple of years ago only, but his Internet heritage is quite long. After talking Jean-Michel Billaut into paying him a plane fare to the US, he stays on there and covers technology for the then hype Internet Think Tank atelier.fr. That experience helped him launch a start-up financing activity when he came back, helping about 30 companies get about 150 million euros in financing. He went on to launch the Republic Alley incubator. I would have interviewed him for you, but Jean-Michel Billaut as already done so in the Billaut show (see above)

Recently, with his wife Chine Lanzmann, he’s been focusing on travelling the world and finding fantastic “New Business Ideas”. He’s already written a first opus, and has just released his new book on the topic “gagner sa vie en se faisant plaisir”.

He’s inviting everyone on his blog to the launch cocktail this week on thrusday in Paris. I expect a lot of bloggers will show up, and I might tape the Mry & Rodrigo Show #6 there, unless I’m elsewhere in Europe that day for something I’ll only be allowed to announce on Monday .

So if you’re into entrepreneurship, new products, or just great fun, make sure you browse his blog, read his books, and come & sip some champaign on thursday.

EasyOnlineConference are bastards and thieves

These bastards at EasyOnlineConference have added my RSS feed to their system, and for the past weeks all my content is redistributed on their site. My Creative Commons license clearly says NON COMMERCIAL. Their site is heavily subsidized with advertising which violates this licence. This is NO WAY on their site to contact them as their site has comments blocked, no email for contact etc.

Why am I pissed ? I spend a LOT of time writing up my content. It is not meant for other people to make money off it. Some sites such as neteco.com or memeorandum.tech also redistribute my content, but they have asked for permission.

I remember a discussion on Jason Calacanis’ blog recently who had the same issue. Mike Arrington on Techcrunch (can’t find the link) had the same issue of people stealing content. I remember vaguely someone recommending writing to abuse@[theirISP] which I’m doing right now.

Stuff like this is bound to happen to all of us. It’s going to be as bad as spam. And worse of all, whenever I do an ego search (looking for links to my posts), I get THEM for a few pages before any relevant link.

And of course they use a number of domains, including for instance www.onlinemeetingsolutions.com.

Guys, I’m not kidding, this is a cease-and-desist post. You are bastards and thieves. The funny thing is that this post will show up automatically on their sites… with this title. I’ve already mentionned the problem here.

This is the message I just left on godaddy.com’s site on their contact forum. I hope they are serious people and contact them to stop this abuse, or just shut them down.

 

Hello, the sites easyonlineconference.com and onlinemeetingsolutions.com are redistributing my content (posts from my blog) without my permission on their sites that are clearly commercial sporting both sponsoring and googleads. This is agains my creative commons license of NON Commercial.
There is NO way to contact them on their site. Both sites were registered through godaddy.com. Can you please contact them and tell them to stop this, or take any adequate measure ? Thank you.

John Paul Lepers launches his blog on the occasion of his book on Bernadette Chirac !

John Paul Lepers is a very well known French political and sociological journalist in France. He has guts, and treats all his field trips with LOTS of humor, sometimes slight over the border. Impertinent is a word often associated with him. But guys like him make our society freer and his enables free speach.

He has now opened his blog, and is experimenting with video with us at vpod.tv. I’m delighted. If you agree or disagree with him, please do that on his blog.

Oh, he’s releasing a book on Madame Chirac this week. I understand it’s unauthorized and that it was made after the movie he was making on her was censured. Boy boy… do you think he might actually videoblog it ?
