Please all give a hand to Steve Jobs, the man. His Steeveness has finally achieved a 3–year long marathon sales pitch with me: tonight, on the AppleStore, I’ve bought the latest iMac G5 20”and a black video 30 Gb iPod after watching his last live webcast. (Apple you guys should really start webcasting live, and not afterwards! This creates momentum!).
If you haven’t watched the webcast, please do so: the new features are so cool (and actually they really are not much. Jobs plays on the emotional level beautifully instead of playing on the rational side) that I finally decided to jump in. What made it ? This moment:
Convergence is now possible. That vision we all shared for so long is now a reality, and I want a part of it (in addition to more professional reasons where I need to test a number of things on all platforms). Hey! I’m not switching, I’m extending, as I’ll have 3 operating systems on my desktop.
Actually, Steve did the show so brilliantly, that my partner in crime, Ivan, also bought the same config in Spain, and we agreed on specs by videoconferencing.
I just wonder how many people bought new hardware tonight. Really how many ? On his show he said he had sold close to ONE million iPod Nano in 5 weeks. At over $200 each… that’s a nice way to create a billion dollar business in a snap.
Now Mac-enthusiasts: I’ll need all the help I can to start using this new OS and get the most out of it. Please share links, tips, lists of best apps, etc.
