I’m not telling you where I found the tip (actually on one of the vlogs I’ve already pointed you at – let me know if you figure out which one), but I’ve been trying to understand how to do it for years! I was so bored with seeing the typepad logo all the time…
Actually it’s super super super easy. All you needed to know is that it’s called favicon.ico. There now you know. Now, how do you get it on Typepad? Easy. Here are all the easy steps:
- take a picture or draw a picture of what you want your small ico to be. It’s rather small in size, so take something simple.
- go to this web site: http://www.html-kit.com/favicon/ and use it to generate your favorite icon
- you’ll get a .zip file. Just make sure you unzip it and put for instance the favicon.ico file on the desktop (DO NOT change its name).
- log in to Typepad, go to Control Panel / The Files tab, and upload the file to the root / (default) of your blog).
- and now WAIT !!! it took a couple of hours for me to show up right, somehow there must be a cache on Typepad. No need to add those lines of code that you see everywhere in the help posts on the blogosphere. It’ll work by magic.
So, if you’ve tried this tip, and it works (and it will), and you want to say thanks for the tip, please leave a comment. At least I’ll know I’m now writing just for myself
