A funny story today: the FBI might be using Google technology to scan emails from Internet users.
I would assume anything we host on the Internet is scanned by a couple of intelligence agencies around the world... Echelon for instance was designed exactly for that; and there is no democratic way to prevent that, only privacy groups raising their concerns publicly :(
