4:38am, the election is not yet over. Currently: Obama 207-McCain 135
Just back from a night watch at the Harry's Bar in Paris. The crowd was huge, packed, with an overwhelming feeling of Joy at the prospect of Obama's presidency. it's really incredible that folks that have no right to vote in the USA, are so keen on electing their candidate. I felt they were really "voting" FOR Obama, and not against McCain.
Really impressive, decisive moment in world politics.
Obama's campaign was centered on domestics issues. I expect him to raise to a world-class leader of a major super-power, and address some of the planet's issues.
Finally, I resent the fact that he is always refered to with regard to his skin colour. Who cares ? Obama has not campaigned for 20 months for nothing as he was already a mixed race candidate. He's where he stands tonight, because he brings hope, youth, energy, and a better value set.
Nevertheless, a half black president of the USA is an overwhelming symbol to all of us. Yes We can. Yes He can.
